Home / Relocating to the UK
We are best known for helping families move to Greece. Much of our experience runs the other way — bringing international families and returning Britons home to the United Kingdom, coordinated from our London base.
Pelagos is a private office for internationally mobile individuals and families. Greece is our deepest specialism and the place we chose to build from — but our clients' lives rarely sit within a single country, and neither does our work. A significant part of what we have done to date has been the reverse of the journey the rest of this site describes: helping people relocate to the United Kingdom.
It is a natural extension of the same model, not a separate business. The discipline is identical — hold the whole picture, sequence the decisions, introduce the right specialist at the right moment — only the destination changes. And on this particular route we have an advantage many advisers do not: a genuine London base, at 45 Albemarle Street in Mayfair, and staff who live and work in the UK rather than administering it from a distance.
In our experience, UK-bound relocations divide fairly evenly into two groups, and the coordination challenge is much the same for both.
What unites both is that they are making a significant, high-stakes move and want one steady point of contact who has done it many times before — rather than assembling a cast of disconnected advisers and hoping they coordinate themselves.
As with Greece, a move to the UK touches several separate areas that are usually handled by people who never speak to one another:
Exactly where we sit in a Greek relocation: above the specialists, not among them. We begin with a single private conversation about what you are trying to achieve and by when. From that we build a sequenced plan — what must be decided first, what can run in parallel — and introduce you directly to the right UK specialists: private client lawyers, tax advisers, immigration counsel, education consultants, currency brokers. We then remain the connecting thread throughout, so nothing is lost between advisers who are each doing their job well but have no reason to talk to each other.
Our UK property search is genuinely extensive — from prime central London to the home counties and rural estates further afield. The way we deliver that reach is deliberate. Rather than claim to know every market in the country first-hand and be spread too thin, we work through a network of trusted UK search partners, engaging the right one for each specific brief. A search for a London townhouse and a search for a West Country farmhouse call for different specialists; we bring in whichever is right, and we stay the constant coordinating presence above them.
For you, that means one relationship and one point of accountability — Pelagos — with genuine specialist depth beneath it wherever in the UK you are looking. It is the same principle that governs everything we do: act only for the buyer, bring in the best person for each part, and never let coordination fall through the gaps.
A home in Britain, found and coordinated as carefully as one in Greece.
We are not a law firm, a tax adviser, or an immigration consultancy — in the UK any more than in Greece. Where UK law, tax residency or visa status is involved, you work directly with a qualified professional. Our value is making sure you are introduced to the right one, briefed properly, and never navigating it blind.
A great deal of "international relocation" advice for the UK is delivered from outside it. Ours is not. Marcus is between Corfu and London through the year, the practice is registered and staffed in Mayfair, and the partner network we draw on — lawyers, tax specialists, school consultants, brokers — is one we know personally and in person. For a client re-rooting a whole family in Britain, that on-the-ground presence is the difference between advice and genuine coordination.
No forms, no obligation. A confidential discussion about your move — in either direction — on your terms.
Start the Discovery ProgrammeDoes Pelagos only help people move to Greece?
No. Pelagos is a private office for internationally mobile clients, and relocation runs in both directions. Greece is our deepest specialism, but a significant part of our work to date has been the reverse journey — helping international families and returning Britons relocate into the United Kingdom, coordinated from our London base and staff.
Who do you help relocate to the UK?
Two broad groups, in roughly equal measure. The first are Britons returning home after years abroad — in Greece, the wider Mediterranean, the Gulf or elsewhere. The second are international families from Europe, the United States and the Gulf establishing a base in the UK, often for schooling, business or lifestyle reasons. The coordination challenge is much the same in both cases.
Do you handle UK visas and tax yourself?
No. As with our Greek work, we are the coordination layer, not the regulated adviser. UK immigration, tax residency and legal matters are handled by the qualified specialists we introduce you to. Our role is to design the sequence, engage the right people at the right time, and hold the whole picture together.
How much of the UK can you actually search?
Effectively all of it — prime London, the home counties, and rural and county markets. We achieve that reach by working through trusted UK search partners, engaging the right specialist for each brief rather than spreading ourselves too thin. You keep one relationship and one point of accountability with Pelagos, with genuine local depth beneath it wherever you are looking.
